Sunset, 7/1/09

Some would say grey and ominous looking, I prefer to concentrate on the subtlety of the blues in the scene. If you try and forget for one moment the fact you are looking at a sky, let go of all the negative connotations you have for such an image. Instead, enjoy it like you would a painting. The mysterious blue-greys of the clouds, although far more open and less obviously secretive; in truth they reveal no more about themselves than the shadowy trees that stand so prominently in the lower third of the picture. But wait, what’s that in the middle of the right clump of trees. Just visible between the trunks. It is golden. It is truth, honesty. It is hope.

In a desperate attempt to show you something other than the same old shot out of the bedroom window over the treetops, I have decided to try and artsy this one up a bit. By playing on the diffusion of the light from the sodium street lamp as it passes though the condensation on the window, I hoped to add some warmth to the otherwise chilly scene. Or something…

Sunset, 2/1/09

This was taken on the Quarry Walk near Tullynessle. It’s a gently slopping walk of about 11km that took us just under 4hr to complete. There are better pictures, but this was the one closest to sunset.

I am sorry that I haven’t been blogging much of late, but it seems to be taking rather longer to revise each part of the Medicine course than I was expecting. The end result of all this is that I don’t actually have enough time to complete it, if things continue as they are at the moment. Particularly if I keep getting dragged out to do things; not that I’m complaining. So you’ll forgive me if blogging has somewhat fallen down the list of priorities. Normal service should resume once my life returns to its normal state of steady and scarcely controlled chaos. I do have a week off after the exams (that’s assuming I pass them) which will surely give me time to show this blog the love and attention I desperately want to give it.

Sunset, 1/1/09

First sunset of 2009 and it’s not a great one. Looking out of my usual window I’m greeted with a scene identical to yesterday’s photo; a gloomy blue-grey nothingness. So I decided to mix it up a bit and take the photo out my bedroom window instead.
