Regent’s Evening

After the fun and games of Wednesday night I was pretty knackered and decided to sleep for a long time. I think I got up around 11, and then only because I was so hungry. I had my customary weetabix and watched TV for a bit. To be honest, I don’t really remember what I did with the next few hours. I know I had a shower at least. I left for the Medic’s Freshers Fayre and Regent Evening around quarter to four. It was an uncomfortable reminder of how unfit I’ve become over the holidays, despite climbing all those mountains. Even though I now live in a completely different direction to the hospital from last year, my route still includes the same horrible slog of a hill right at the end. Every time I cycle it, which will be almost everyday this year, I curse it as the most horrible hill ever to exist. I hate that hill, genuinely despise it.

Anyway, almost everyone had already arrived and started setting up when I got there. The freshers were just the same as we were last year I think, eager to give us their money, just the way we like it. The layout punished us though, last time they had to walk past all the societies stands to get in, and then again to get out. Today, they could come in from the lecture, meet there regent and leave without coming near us. I think it affected our new member numbers; 26 this year compared with more than 40 last year. Still, it’s not a bad number and nowhere near that number will remain active with us for the whole year. I took all the new member details home with me so I can type them in to the database when the time comes, not a job I’m particularly looking forward to. I did manage to lose a form though. Well, I say I lost it, it never came in to my possession so it’s not really my fault. Although I do feel a bit silly since, amongst others, it did have my details on it. Better to lose my own form though, right?

My first apology

I always feel a blog is doomed to fail if the author has to apologise for not posting within the first month. It usually means they approached blogging with unrealistic intentions and have not been able to meet them. Things often go downhill from then.

Now, the reason that doesn’t apply to this apology is because I never intended to blog as often as I ended up doing, so really this is more of a courtesy than a necessity.

So sorry, no post today, because I have actually, you know, been like, busy and stuff. Working and all of that. (And listening to entirely pointless jokes, but I guess that could be a post for another day *evil smile*)

I do have an awful lot to say on the Wilderness Medical Society (WMS) trip to Driesh on Sunday, but it’s going to be a long one and I don’t really have time to write it now.

Right, that’s all; so just to confirm I’m not dead, just not posting anything else today.
